Councillors and mayors help make decisions about budgets, infrastructure, planning, housing, and local services. These decisions rarely have simple answers. They involve trade-offs, limited resources, and competing needs that must be weighed and decided collectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Much of the work also happens outside the council chamber. Councillors spend time reading agendas, reviewing reports, and preparing for decisions before meetings take place.
