0% Tax Increase

Keeping Oxford County Affordable for Everyone

Across Oxford County, families, farmers, and local businesses are feeling the pressure of rising costs. Property taxes are one of the few expenses that municipal councils can directly control — and this year, we are calling on our local leaders to hold the line.

A 0% tax increase is a realistic, responsible way to give our community breathing room while still maintaining essential services.

We believe council can and should:

  • Prioritize core community needs over new spending
  • Find efficiencies within existing budgets
  • Practice transparency and accountability in how taxpayer dollars are spent

Holding taxes steady this year will help protect residents who are already stretched thin and show that local government is listening.

We are asking councils to commit to a 0% municipal tax increase in the upcoming budgets.

How to Support This Campaign:

  1. Print & Sign the petition: Councils only accepts paper petitions, so please print a copy of the petition below and add your signature.
  2. Spread the Word: Ask your neighbours, friends, and other Oxford County residents to sign as well. The more voices we collect, the stronger the message to council. You can also download a flyer with talking points from the bottom of this page to share and help others understand why a 0% tax increase matters.
  3. Submit the Petition: Mail the signed petition pages to: Stand4Oxford; PO Box 1505; Woodstock PO Main, Ontario; N46 0A7
  4. Show Your Support With a Lawn Sign: Lawn signs are available for residents who want to show their support for a 0% tax increase. To request a lawn sign, send us a message at Contact with your name, address, closest pick-up location, and contact information. A member of our team will get in touch with you to arrange pick-up at the nearest location (Burgessville, Ingersoll, Norwich, Tavistock, Tillsonburg, Thamesford, or Woodstock). If you cannot make it to a pick-up spot, let us know and we will work with you to arrange delivery.
*Donations of $5–10 to help cover the cost of each lawn sign are appreciated but not required.
  5. Contact Your Council: Reach out to your mayor and councillors to share your thoughts on keeping taxes at 0%. Every call, email, or letter makes a difference. You can find their contact information here: https://webresources.oxfordcounty.ca/general/municipaldirectory/municipaldirectory.aspx

  2. Congrats to Oxford for their courage and leadership to defend the tax payers of Oxford. Their courage will give strength to other municipal counselors to stand firm, and do the same for their members!!

Kudos to the 3 brave counselors at the last council meeting to stand and defend principals on which they were voted by the people yo do their job!!

Ephesians 6:20 says, Pray that l may declare it boldly and courageously, as l ought to do!!

    Thank you from Perth Wellington

    1. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement from Perth Wellington! It’s inspiring to know that people beyond Oxford are watching and supporting efforts to keep taxes accountable and sustainable. You are right – standing firm on behalf of taxpayers takes courage, and we’re grateful to the councillors who have done so here in Oxford. We hope more municipalities will take steps to protect affordability for residents.

  3. I support and have signed this petition. Thank you for coming to my door to provide the opportunity to sign a worthwhile petition. I pray Oxford councillors will adopt logical and truly accountable decisions, as it should be. They have an important job and must gain the public’s trust in them. I’m afraid that many councillors stress ideology over common sense.

    1. We’re so grateful you signed. Hearing this at the door over and over is exactly why we’re doing this. Oxford deserves councillors who lead with logic, transparency, and real accountability.

  4. Inflation naturally increases assessed values of properties and therfore increases taxation revenue over time. To alter the mill rate is double dipping.
