At Stand4Oxford, we usually spend our time focused on policy, governance, and the responsibilities of local leadership. But strong communities aren’t built by politics alone — they’re built by shared experiences, conversations, and a willingness to listen to one another.
That’s why we’re happy to encourage participation in Oxford County Library’s “Oxford Reads” program.
Oxford Reads invites residents across the county to read and discuss a common book by a Canadian author, written within the last five years, chosen for its ability to appeal to a broad audience and spark meaningful conversation. It’s a simple idea — and a powerful one. Reading together creates shared reference points, builds empathy, and gives neighbours something constructive to talk about beyond headlines and hashtags.
Oxford Reads is an easy, non-partisan way to participate in the cultural life of our county. We encourage residents to take part, join the discussions, and enjoy the rare gift of slowing down long enough to read — together.
Sometimes, community building starts with something as simple as a book.
