Exploring Global Climate Policies and Their Local Impact
KICLEI Canada
Led by Maggie Braun, KICLEI Canada examines the impact of global climate policies on local decision-making. Through research, analysis, and educational tools, it empowers communities to understand these policies, take informed action, and participate in dialogue about the future of local governance. KICLEI Oxford
We’re proud to be working alongside KICLEI Canada to help Oxford County reclaim local autonomy and ensure community needs come first.
As part of this effort, we’ve:
- Hosted a community town hall to share information and gather input
- Met with several municipal councils through delegations to discuss concerns and next steps
- Presented a petition with over 700 signatures to Oxford County Council during our delegation, showing strong local support for this work
We also have a personalized KICLEI Oxford pamphlet that highlights what this partnership means for our communities and how local councils can get involved.
Feel free to download and share this pamphlet with your neighbours or bring it to your local council representatives.
Maggie’s Battery Storage (BESS) Report
To support this ongoing work, we’re also sharing a detailed BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) report prepared by Maggie, which outlines the potential risks, gaps, and unanswered questions surrounding proposed projects in Oxford County. This report is intended to help residents, councillors, and community partners make informed decisions as conversations around local energy planning continue.
You can read Maggie’s Municipal Oversight Brief: BESS Risks & Local Authority and New KICLEI Report: What Every Council Needs to Know About BESS Projects articles or download the full report below.
