Province Adds New Oversight and Support Office for TVDSB Parents

The Ontario Minister of Education has issued a letter to all Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) families announcing the creation of a new Student and Family Support Office. This is intended to give parents a more direct way to raise concerns, receive timely responses, and ensure issues aren’t overlooked at the board level.

Launching in January 2026, the office will provide an additional pathway for families who have already spoken with their child’s school but still need help—especially with complex, contentious, or unresolved matters. According to the Minister, school board staff will now be expected to acknowledge inquiries within two business days and aim to offer a full response within five business days, with oversight by a Supervisory Officer to ensure accountability.

More details will be available on the TVDSB website by January 19, 2026.

Parents are encouraged to read the Minister’s full letter to better understand what this new office will offer and how it can support families moving forward.
