Oxford County Council has approved a new Climate Action Plan for 2026–2030. While the plan outlines actions related to climate resilience, infrastructure, water protection, emergency preparedness, and community planning, it also establishes a long-term direction that could influence future budgets, policies, and municipal priorities.
Stand4Oxford believes responsible stewardship of our communities, farmland, water resources, and infrastructure is an important responsibility of local government. We also believe that long-term policy decisions must be transparent, financially responsible, and accountable to the people they affect.
As implementation begins, residents should be asking a few important questions:
What will this cost taxpayers?
How will proposed initiatives affect future budgets, municipal services, and property taxes?
How will rural Oxford be represented?
Will the needs of farmers, villages, and rural residents receive the same consideration as those of larger urban centres?
What decisions are still to come?
Which projects, policies, and budget decisions will return to Council, and when will residents have meaningful opportunities to provide input?
Planning for the future is part of good governance. So is ensuring that decisions remain affordable, transparent, and guided by the people who live here.
