At Oxford County’s recent budget meeting, residents and delegations including Stand4Oxford (S4O) saw the final property tax levy come in slightly higher than earlier projections. While council initially worked with figures indicating a 5.0% property tax increase for Woodstock residents and 5.1% for residents elsewhere in Oxford County, the final approved budget reflected a 5.2% property tax increase for Woodstock and 5.3% for other areas. For many households, even a fraction of a percentage point makes a noticeable difference. S4O highlighted these affordability concerns during our delegation, emphasizing the impact on everyday residents and calling for careful management of public funds.
Looking ahead, 2026 will be a municipal election year, giving residents an important opportunity to vote for councillors who will represent their priorities and ensure local government remains accountable. Staying engaged now can help shape the decisions that affect your community.
S4O will continue to monitor budget discussions, share updates with residents, and advocate for transparency and fiscal responsibility in Oxford County.
Residents who want to make their voices heard or get involved can reach out to S4O through our Contact page. Together, we can work to ensure council hears the community on matters that affect everyone’s wallets.
